2020 wireless charging equipment shipments will exceed 2 billion units, more than 15 times more than this year
According to the CNET website, market research firm IHS released a report on Tuesday that the number of devices supporting wireless charging technology last year was only 55 million units, and this year will exceed 120 million units. According to IHS, it is expected that devices supporting wireless charging technology will become more and more popular. In 2024, shipments will exceed 2 billion units, an increase of 15.7 times over the same period of this year. Wireless charging represents a major shift in the technology industry.
Historically, mobile device users have to plug the device into the charger for charging. The wireless charging technology makes it unnecessary to connect the mobile device to the mobile device, as long as the mobile device is placed on the charging pad.
Samsung announced a sensation in the wireless charging industry earlier this month after the announcement of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge supporting wireless charging. Apple Apple Watch also supports wireless charging technology. IKEA also announced that it will begin selling furniture with wireless charging capabilities, and the first product will be available for sale next month, supporting compatible smartphones and cases.
However, compatibility is one of the main problems with wireless charging technology. Incompatibility of charging standards can cause problems for consumers. Although smartphone manufacturers sell wireless chargers that are compatible with their products, consumers considering purchasing third-party accessories need to know the wireless charging standards supported by specific products.
According to IHS, well-known products that support wireless charging technology are scarce and standards are incompatible with each other, so companies are reminded of the need to charge wireless technology to consumers. In a survey conducted last year by IHS, 63% of consumers did not know or understood wireless charging technology, prompting smartphone makers to value the wireless charging technology of consumer science.
IHS pointed out that wireless charging technology will develop rapidly despite standard incompatibilities and popular science issues. This year, the wireless charging technology market will reach about 1.7 billion US dollars (about 10 billion yuan), and will grow to nearly 15 billion US dollars (about 92.2 billion yuan) in 2024.
No longer need to "specify a time to charge"
